Meet the Expert:

Professor Chia Kee Seng


deanProf Chia is the Founding Dean of SSHSPH. He started his professional career as an Occupational Health Physician and subsequently, as a Molecular Epidemiologist. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the Karolinska Institutet, Sweden and Director, NUS-Genome Institute of Singapore Centre for Molecular Epidemiology. He also serves as a Council Member of the Workplace Safety and Health Council and Board Member of the National Environment Agency.

His current research focuses on the study of how genetic and lifestyle factors interact to cause chronic diseases and the translation of these findings to preventive measures at the population level. The School has, under his stewardship, set up the Population Health Metrics and Analytics System to provide evidence for timely intervention for disease prevention and health promotion to help researchers and policymakers track the population's long-term health risks and attitudes towards health disease.
