Health, Safety & Wellbeing Committee
In line with our mission of “Turning Discovery into Healthier Communities”, the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health is committed to ensuring a high standard of health, safety, and wellbeing of its own community of staff, students, visitors and contractors. This is helmed by the Dean.
Vice Dean (Academic Affairs) A/Prof Chia Sin Eng is the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OH&SMS) management representative for SSHSPH. The School’s OH&SMS is established based on the OHSAS18001:2007 standard.
Its health, safety and wellbeing goals are:
- To promote and maintain the highest degree of physical, mental and social wellbeing of all in SSHSPH
- To provide a positive safety, health and environment learning experience and model best practices for student programmes
SSHSPH OH&SMS Management Organisational Structure
Supporting top management in operationalising our health, safety and wellbeing goals in the School is the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee (HSWC), which is comprised of representatives from various offices.
SSHSPH originated from a department with a strong foundation in the areas of occupational health and safety. The School has now taken the lead in spearheading the new Total Workplace Safety and Health initiative, which emphasises integration between traditional safety, health and wellness elements. For more information on this initiative, click here.
HSWC conducts annual Management Review meetings to evaluate and address key health, safety and wellbeing issues in the School. The output received from the review enable us to formulate our goals and programmes and plan allocation of resources for improvement of our performance.
The School’s OH&SMS is subject to regular internal, external (OSHE) and third party audits to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
All activities organized by HSWC encompass health, safety and wellbeing.
